About the Teacher
Cynda Wolfe grew up in a musical family in a suburb of Los Angeles. With the early training of Anna Irick Holle, former professor of music at what is now Valparaiso University, Cynda began playing the piano at the age of four years old. Under the gentle easy instruction of her first teacher, she began her life-long deepening relationship with music.
As a teen ager Cynda participated in many music associations and organizations. Being able to play the piano and express her creativity as a pianist gave her the most joy and a lifelong passion for creating through music. She began teaching while attending high school. While hanging out with bands and choirs filled with young musicians, Cynda discovered a musical life of adventure, challenge and fun.
Throughout her university years Cynda continued teaching piano and working with music departments in work-study and scholarship programs, thus financing her education. She graduated from university with several degrees and moved to Portland, Oregon where she continued her piano studies with Sylvia Killman. There she originated her private practice: Cynda Wolfe, piano, that brings the joy of piano to students today.
Currently Cynda enjoys the rich and very welcoming Portland music scene. Her piano class thrives with students of all ages and stages. Cynda\’s own education is never over because every day in music is a new adventure, renewing curiosity at the keyboard with music and an artistic community that is constantly changing.
Life with music is a deeply personal and intimate relationship, a constant companion through all the ups, downs, twists, turns, discoveries and adventures life offers. She wishes the same for you.
